This is a future letter to myself. I've been accomplishing many goals lately, so I thought this would be a good time to set future goals for my photography business. Here we go!
Dear Future Jen,
It's the middle of August 2016 and I've been busy peeling away layers at this vast and saturated photography world. It's been tough. But I'm enjoying the results. I hope by next August that I have five weddings booked. I feel ready to take on such a load. I think I have been for sometime now but I haven't done the work. I guess I was tired of, "all talk and no action." I did a few bold moves and I believe that has thrusted my work forward. I was kind of hiding out for a bit, but now I'm being more open and genuine. At the same time, I'm still finding a way to balance the very loud world of social media.
In addition to booking five weddings, I want them to come from clients who I adore and who in return respect and trust my artistic talents. And will pay me for what I'm worth. Whoa! Did I mention I'm feeling quite bold? Yes! Alrighty then. Oh, and from the five weddings I book, I hope to book one elopement and one Traditional Navajo Wedding. Ahóó!
I hope to teach people that it takes a lot to create a beautiful photograph. And that it goes beyond just using an entry level DSLR on AUTO. Everyone seems to be a "photographer" just on that basis. I hope to stand out from the very massive crowded place of photographers. I want bumper stickers made too, "Invest in a good photographer today!"
I hope to have purchase at least one full frame camera from money that I made from my craft. I don't ever want to go into debt for this. My Canon 7D has been a warrior for me thus far. I will save that camera for my son. Maybe I can get him to second shoot for me someday!
Next year, I hope to have a better workflow. Be better organized. I would like to have started a daily journal of some sort. And be an expert on meditation. Ahh, breathe Jen. And sign up for for more workshops from seasoned photographers. *under my breath* If they are cheap, like under a $100. Haha! And of course to lower my cholesterol and take better care of myself in general.
Whoa, how did this list get so long! I think I could go on and on! Anyhoo, I hope the future is treating you well love. Things here aren't that bad. The guys are great! And Hazel still barks at nothing. I hope this letter finds you well. Take care and I love you, I mean I love me. This turning into a love letter. Ah, that's okay, we ladies need to love ourselves more anyhow! Lady power!!! Ok, I'm done. Laters.
Always and forever yours truly, madly, deeply,
