Shandiin + Kaene

I met Shandiin and Kaene at a barbecue birthday party. My husband started talking with them. And they immediately opened up to us even though we bombarded them with questions. Haha. The more we spoke with them, I knew I needed to photograph them. I asked if they were interested in being my models and they quickly answered, “Yes! We love to!” I told them that I love their sense of style. Shandiin and Kaene were wonderful to work with. I gave little instruction and they naturally knew the photos I was after. I love it when couples just know. Makes my job easy to do and a lot more fun! I also love how they are proud of their Diné (Navajo) heritage. They speak the language too! Love. I found another book of poems by Mary Oliver and this reminds me of Shandinn and Kaene. Enjoy!

As long as you’re dancing, you can break the rules. Sometimes breaking the rules is just extending the rules. Sometimes there are no rules.
