What To Expect
Thank you for booking a portrait session with me! This guide will help you through some popular questions about your session. I will cover outfits, hair and make-up, what to expect, what to bring, editing, and fun loving time.
What to Wear
Dress to impress! This is a great time to dress it up. However, choose outfits that are comfortable and are a reflection of you! If you are a t-shirt kind of guy, dress it up with a blazer. Ladies if you love jeans, dress them up with a pair of fabulous shoes. If you are not sure about an outfit, bring them to the session and I can help you decide. Above all I want you to feel beautiful and comfortable in your outfits.
Wear heels with your dresses. Not only is it elegant but they also elongate your legs and look fabulous in photos. Bring flip flops for walking around. Not a fan of heels, that's okay too. As for my indigenous clients, I absolutely adore traditional outfits and moccasins!
Movement is key in my photos, so choose outfits that flow easily and are comfortable. Choose outfits that will flatter your body shape. Not a big fan of your arms, opt for an off the shoulders dress or top. Still working on your abs, choose a light flowy dress with a belt. Don't like your knees? Opt for a pair of slacks. If you like to smooth things out try a pair of spanks.
To add interest to your photos wear a statement jewelry piece. Such as a turquoise squash blossom. They are my favorite! Statement earrings are great too. Bring hats, scarves, sunglasses and/or a bouquet of flowers. Not only do they add interest to photos but it will also give your hands something to do. Having these options gives your gallery a great variation of images.
Hair + Makeup
Treat yo self!!! Treat yourself to a professional hair and make-up session, I have a couple of make-up artist recommendations. I have a makeup artist who charges $25. Not bad. Get a mani and a pedi too. Especially, if you're engaged, I like to get close ups of your engagement rings. Be careful with tanning creams. If not applied evenly it will show in your photos. And those are tough to edit. Bring along your make-up bag for touch ups.
I tell ya the guys have it the easiest! They look great in almost anything. Add a vest, tie, bow tie, bolo tie or a sports/dinner jacket. I adore hats, be it cowboy hat or a fedora hat, bring it! If you are a t-shirt kind of guy, dress it up with a blazer. Suit jackets will give a nice shape to your torso. Wearing jeans? Dress them up with dress shoes, fun socks and a tie.
Fun Loving Time
Be prepared to embrace, hug, snuggle, laugh, smile and kiss. I will direct you into various activities that have you interact with one another. You'll be dancing, walking, sitting and so on. I strive to capture real life moments between you and your loved one. Everything from fun and exciting moments to the quiet and clam ones. Bring a blanket as a prop and for some sitting down photos. This will also add some options to your gallery.
If small children are going to be in your session, let me tell you right now...they are going to rule the session! Yep, I will go with their flow and energy. I will follow their cues and capture your interaction with your little ones. I have a few activities for you to do with them. Bring a favorite toy or book so they can have something familiar with them and may keep them still for a few seconds! Photos with little ones are going to be more lifestyle. Meaning, I'll be capturing real life moments with your little ones. So, parents please don't stress about your little ones not "posing" or "looking at the camera." I want everyone to have fun during their session. It helps if the little ones get their snack and nap times in too. Bring an extra outfit for them in case of stains or accidents. Bring plenty of water also!
If you are self-conscience about anything, please, please let me know. I can switch up the poses for you. If you have a favorite side, aka, "my good side," then by all means switch it up. I can edit small blemishes and soften your skin only a tinee-tiny bit. I have a few tricks for "slim" looking photos. But I cannot edit you super skinny. Sorry! Nobody got time for that. Haha! Remember to iron your outfits. Wrinkles will show up in photos and are impossible to edit out. Eeek! So, please press and steam.
It's important to arrive early 5-10 minutes so you are ready to go. Remember to add in travel time. Parking can take some time as well. I love hanging out for a few minutes before we get going on our session.
Ok, I think that about does it. Hopefully, I've covered everything. But, if you have any questions just shoot me an email and I'd be happy to answer them!
