Favorite Locations for Photos

DESERT LOCATIONS

I love photographing my clients against simple backdrops. Sessions are held outdoors, in the desert when the light is the softest, usually two hours before sunset or within two hours of sunrise. If you want wildflowers, then late March to early April is the best time to go.

  • Usery Regional Park in Mesa. Open and flat with tall cactus saguaros. Park entrance fee of $7.

  • San Tan Regional Park. Park fees.

  • White Tank Regional Park in Waddell. Open vast desert with tall saguaros. Park fees.

  • Papago Park in Phoenix. No fees but parking space is limited.

URBAN LOCATIONS

If you like to stay in the city, here are some fun places to check out. In my experience these are very, very popular locations, especially during the cooler months. Keep in mind that a lot of people will be out taking photos or exploring the same area.

  • Mesa Art Center in downtown Mesa has beautiful flowers in the spring. Parking is free with no public restrooms.

  • Tempe Center for the Arts has a unique bridge with a water feature. Paid parking with no public restrooms.

  • Scottsdale Civic Center. Lost of spaces to explore with plenty of free parking near the library.

  • ASU Museum of Art in Tempe has a beautiful pink building that makes a lovely backdrop. Paid parking with limited restrooms access.
