Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a photographer is personal. Below are a few common questions about my process and what it’s like to work together.
What type of photographer are you?
I am a film photographer specializing in graduate and professional portraits. My work focuses on natural light, soft colors, and timeless imagery that feels both celebratory and refined.
Why do you use film?
Film photography is intentional. Each frame is carefully composed, creating photos that feel thoughtful, nostalgic, and enduring. The film stock I use produces beautiful colors, beautiful skin tones, and a softness that digital images simply cannot replicate. I work with a professional film lab to develop and scan each roll, allowing the photographs to retain their authentic character with minimal editing. The process is slower, and that is part of the magic.
What is it like to work with you?
Portrait sessions with me are relaxed, joyful, and thoughtfully guided. My approach is calm and easygoing, so you can feel comfortable in front of the camera. I focus on genuine moments while also providing gentle direction when needed. The result is a collection of photographs that feel natural, celebratory, and true to you.
How long are photo sessions?
On average, an hour. Most sessions allow time for one or two looks, though this is entirely up to you. Some clients prefer a single outfit for a cohesive story, while others enjoy changing looks during their session. I guide the pace naturally so the experience stays relaxed and enjoyable.
Are you my photographer?
My work is natural, elegant, and timeless. If you are drawn to photographs that feel authentic, confident, and full of life with beautiful soft film tones, then we will likely be a wonderful match.
How many photos do I receive?
Because I photograph on film, each image is created with intention. Depending on outfits and how you are feeling, approximately 20-40 photographs will be in your gallery. Your final gallery will include a thoughtful mix of candid moments and gently guided portraits that tell the full story of your session.
How do I book a session?
Start by submitting your inquiry. I will respond within 24-48 hours to discuss availability.
Where do you take photos?
I offer several outdoor and indoor locations with natural light throughout the Chandler and East Valley areas. Sessions are typically scheduled in the early morning or evening when the light is most flattering. Clients will also receive a guide to my favorite locations.
Do you travel?
Yes. I reserve a few travel dates each year where travel fees are waived. Sessions outside a 1-hour drive from Chandler may incur a travel fee.
What should I wear?
My approach to portraits is rooted in simplicity and harmony. Choose clothing that feels comfortable, natural, and true to your personal style. I suggest one outfit for a resume or LinkedIn profile. After booking, you will receive a detailed style guide to help you prepare for your session.
When should I book a session?
I recommend booking at least one month in advance to allow time for planning, gallery delivery, and printing needs. The latest I recommend booking is two weeks before your desired session date.
When do I get my photos?
Full galleries are delivered within two weeks of your session. Print orders typically arrive about two weeks after purchase, though timing may vary during graduation and holiday seasons.
What is an online gallery?
An online gallery is where you view your photos and decide which ones to print out or download. Proofing galleries remain active for one month, and your photos are archived for one year.
Portrait photography is deeply personal. Lighting, chemistry, direction, and trust all play a role in creating meaningful photos. If my work resonates with you, I would be honored to create something beautiful together.
